Art in the Open Philadelphia is accepting submissions for its 2nd Annual event taking place June 9-12, 2011. Art in the Open (AiO) is a citywide event that celebrates artists, their inspirations for creating art, and the process of art making in the urban environment. Through a transparent creative process open to everyone, AiO acts as a catalyst for a contemporary re-framing of the tradition of creating art en plein air (working outside, on-site), inspiring both artists and audience to see the river and city beyond in new ways.
Art in the Open 2011 will run from June 9-12 along the Schuylkill River Banks Park. A jury-selected group of 40 artists will have the opportunity to create new work in designated areas of the Park - from the Fairmount Water Works to Locust Street, and at Bartram’s Garden (AiO will provide additional geographic information to the artists before they begin).
Deadline: 02/28/11
